How Little Red Hen Began
Little Red Hen Early Years was founded in 2014 through the shared vision of Daisy Susan and Smitha Naidu. Early in the school’s journey, Daisy Susan’s path led her elsewhere, and Smitha Naidu carried the vision forward – leading, building, and growing Little Red Hen with quiet dedication since, as Co-founder and Head of School. From its Kothanur origins, the school has grown into two campuses across North Bengaluru: Kothanur (DR Bendre Layout) and Thanisandra (near Manyata Tech Park, Back Gate 5).

We believe children learn best in calm, unhurried environments. This means fewer, more meaningful activities rather than a packed schedule. Our classrooms are structured but flexible, giving children room to explore at their own pace, supported by teachers trained to notice and nurture each child’s individual rhythm.

Co-founder & Head of School
Smitha Naidu is an accomplished Early Years Educator and Co-founder of Little Red Hen. A graduate in Physics with a Postgraduate Diploma in Creative Teaching (PGDCT), she is certified in Brain Gym and trained in the Indian Montessori approach. Her educational journey has been further enriched by her participation in the prestigious Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women entrepreneurship program at IIM Bangalore.
We follow the Cambridge Early Years Curriculum
The Cambridge Early Years Curriculum framework helps nurture children holistically through meaningful, play-based, developmentally appropriate learning.
The curriculum covers six key areas: Communication, Language and Literacy; Mathematics; Physical Development; Personal, Social and Emotional Development; Understanding the World; and Creative Expression. Montessori materials continue to support Math concepts, the Jolly Phonics program supports reading and writing readiness, and Play Way’s hands-on, experiential approach remains central to how children learn with us every day.

To deepen this commitment, we are collaborating with Greshma Momaya, a renowned school transformation consultant known for helping visionary institutions turn philosophy into meaningful classroom practice. With experience across India, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific, Greshma specialises in reimagining pedagogy, strengthening school culture and building teacher capacity. Greshma’s ongoing work with our teaching team supports the Cambridge transition specifically. This is not a change in direction, but a strengthening of roots.
